We worked with a retired professional couple to enhance their home by the removal of the existing, dark and enclosed bathroom to bring it into the 21st century. We removed all the old bathroom fitments including wall and floor tiles taking us back to basics.
The couple wanted to optimise the available space whilst making the room feel larger and more user friendly. They also wanted to be able to use both a shower and bath should they have restricted mobility in the future. We achieved this by installing a large, low level walk-in shower on one side of the bathroom and a new bath, toilet and suspended vanity unit on the other side of the bathroom.
The suspended vanity unit had a ceramic sit on basin which did not detract from the overall image and use of both. The vanity unit still had ample storage for towels and personal cleaning products. Above this unit we installed electrical power points including a shaver power point.
We gave the couple a few unusual touches to their bath, (a right handed retractable shower head) thereby allowing for continual use should a bath be preferred but there is still a need to rinse one’s hair or body. The clever installation of a small ladder towel rail between the basin and shower means no more cold or wet towels in the morning or evening.
The walls were tiled in a cream high gloss, marble effect tile which were complimented with a matching matt finish floor tile. No chance of people slipping over! The shower and bath wall tiles were both complemented by vertical mosaic tiles which add light and reflection to the room.
